Pioneer House is a community based organisation funded by the Federal Government and run by a voluntary management committee. Located in Mudgee we area pleasant three and a half hour drive from Sydney and the Central Coast. Nestled in a large undulating valley and positioned on the Central Tablelands of NSW we are part of the newly renamed "Central NSW" Region.
Pioneer House first came into being when concerned citizens in the Mudgee area realised the need for an aged care facility in the district. Opening in 1965 we began our journey as an Aged Care Facility with just 16 beds. Never one to remain static, we continued to increase in size over the years until reaching our present capacity of 80 beds.
In 1995, Pioneer House commenced association with quality dementia care through the opening of our secured high care dementia specific area. This area consists of a 16 bed unit and is now complemented by our new 18 bed low care dementia specific area.
In 2005 a further 30 low care beds were approved by the Commonwealth Government consisting of a secured low care dementia specific area and low care mainstream area.
At Pioneer House we provide access to appropriate healthcare at all times. Residents, or their representatives, are encouraged to make informed choices regarding treatment and care that will meet their individual needs.
Maintaining physical independence is important to us and residents are assisted to maintain their own levels of personal care. All residents are individually assessed by our staff and care is planned specifically to suit the person’s needs. This is done in consultation with them and/or their representative.
Celebrations
At Pioneer House we take great pride in making everyone feel at home. All holidays and special events are a time of celebration with all residents being involved. Birthdays are special days and are celebrated with a cake and candles. The residents enjoys these events greatly.
